We are an Association of twenty-nine Baptist churches. We cooperate together to advance the Gospel in our local communities and to the ends of the earth. We are strategically located at the crossroads of two major interstates (57 and 64) in southern Illinois. We began associating in 1853 and were organized in 1854. It is unknown how many churches actually started our Association, but four churches - Pleasant Grove (1840), Long Prairie (1852), Pleasant Hill (1852) and Salem (now East Salem -1853) - currently in our Association were founding members. The Churches of the Association have sought to maintain Biblical and Baptist principles and have affiliated with the Illinois Baptist State Association (IBSA) and the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC). Throughout the years the Association has sought to advance the Gospel of Jesus Christ through missionary endeavors, new church starts and equipping church leaders.
